No matter who you are, or where you fall on the social spectrum, Facebook is a force. Facebook is to social media what MTV was to cable: A new media brand that is transforming the media landscape.
Facebook is big. Its impact is big. But just how big? Does Facebook sit at the center of our digital universe? Or does it orbit the sun like the other major sites we use?
More generally, how much of our digital life is under the sway of social? What are we using social for and what does it mean for other parts of the Web? Does social complement or consume the other things we do online (and off)?
These are the questions we asked when we set out to examine Social Networkers – that giant swath of online users who, through all their posts and profiles, represent the changing face of the Web and media at large.
